Dales ponies after decades of dedicated effort still only number less than 1,000, therefore they are still in  urgent need of conservation and desperately require the support of everyone who loves horses and ponies, owners and non owners alike, to ensure their future. The Dales Pony Association is a non profit organisatin commited to educating the public and preserving this rare breed. This work is a very costly task in both time and expense and memberships and donations are our only source of income at this time. We strive to keep the cost of membership to a minimum to encourage as many people to assist us as possible, and we endeavour to ensure maximum return for that investment.

With this in mind, we provide four newsletters per year, annual sales/farm listings, as well as a buddy scheme for non owners, where a pony owning member in your region, when one is available, shares their time and experience of their own Dales pony with the non owner member. In this way it is hoped that more people will come to appreciate the wonderful qualities of the breed and become even more committed to preserving it.

For breeders, membership also includes a listing on the Sales List and the Farm Listing, concessionary rates on registrations and farm links to the DPANA web site.  The DPANA is very active in promoting the association across North America through shows and exhibitions, which the Farm Listing and Sales List is displayed at.

The two other benefits to membership, which are immeasureable ...... are the satisfaction that comes from helping the DPANA to keep the Dales pony here for future generations and finally .......it is generally accepted by all who encounter this breed, its enthusiasts, the DPANA and all who represent it, that it is not only, without a doubt, the most fantastic of horse and pony breeds to be involved with.... but also the best organization and friendliest membership to be a part of in the horse world today!

It is not our intent to offend or pry with the following queries, it is just that we do hold our mission statement of humane and ethical treatment of Dales as a very high priority, as well as the honest and ethical treatment of all interested in the breed.
